Illustrated with engravings, this compilation by the Rochester Ladies' Anti-Slavery Society collects essays from prominent anti-slavery advocates such Harriet Beecher Stowe, Dr. James McCune Smith, Horace Greeley, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Seward, Horace Mann, Lewis Tappan, Gerrit Smith, William Jay, Theodore Parker, James Mercer Langston, Thomas W. Higginson, Henry Ward Beecher and William Wells Brown. Each essay includes a facsimile of the author's autograph, thus giving the volume its title. 


Bound in purple cloth boards with decorative gilt lettering and gilt illustration on the cover. Spine is faded to brown. Some foxing, corners bumped, bookplate and inscription on front endpapers.
